Recommended daily intake: 1 tablet after lunch and 1 tablet after dinner (Important Note: For thyroid patients, take the Ultra Calcium D3 at least 4 hours after taking your thyroid medication)
What is Ultra Calcium D3?
Ultra Calcium D3 is a well-balanced mix of several salts of calcium that are gentle to the GI tract and that do not negatively affect your GI chemistry.
How does Ultra Calcium D3 help thyroid patients?
Thyroid patients may become at risk of having bone loss, osteopenia, and osteoporosis. The risk is even greater in menopausal women. Many thyroid patients do not receive adequate dietary calcium from foods, especially those who need to follow a low fat diet, or are intolerant to dairy. Calcium is not only important for bone health but is also helpful for many bodily functions. In fact, insufficient calcium intake has been associated with weight issues and calcium supplementation facilitates weight loss in people who follow a weight loss program.
The importance of selecting the right amount of calcium:
The daily recommended dietary allowance (RDA) of calcium provided by the Institute of Medicine is 1000 milligrams for both men and women. For women between the ages of 51 and 70 years old, the daily RDA is 1200 milligrams of calcium. Research, however, indicates that taking excessive amounts of calcium may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Before deciding on additional calcium supplementation, check the calcium content of your dairy products and multivitamins. Note that non-dairy foods contain calcium as well; some may provide between 250 and 300 milligrams daily. Therefore, for many people, taking one tablet of Ultra Calcium D3 daily is adequate, sufficient and safe. If you do not consume dairy products on a regular basis, then one tablet, twice a day, will be a safe and optimal intake for bone health and efficient metabolism.
In essence, Calcium supplementation needs to be individualized based on your nutrition, but should not exceed 1,500 milligrams a day. To avoid excessive calcium intake, select multivitamins that are calcium-free, such as ThyroLife Optima, and take calcium supplements separately.
Key Benefits of Ultra Calcium D3:
- Helps with bone health, autoimmunity, metabolism, and cardiovascular health, which is so important for thyroid patients
- Helps to boost your metabolism and weight loss efforts
- Does not load you with large amounts of a single salt like carbonate or citrate, unlike most over-the-counter calcium tablets, which might alter your GI chemistry. Instead, it will give you a gentle mix of many, allowing for consistent calcium absorption.
- Will give you an additional 1,000 units of vitamin D3 per serving of two tablets.
- Vitamin D3 - 1000 IU
- Calcium (from Ca Carbonate, Ca Gluconate, veal bone powder, Ca Lactate, Ca Ascorbate, and Ca Citrate)- 1000 mg

Importance of physical health
Posted by JUDY gALLAGHER on 25th Mar 2016
Physical health is always important but more so as one ages. I have read many articles on how as individuals age their body becomes deficient in vitamin D. I have confidence in taking all of Dr. Arem's supplements especially the Ultra Calcium-D3, which assures me that my physical health needs are met to keep me healthy and active as I age gracefully. I turned 75 this year and need all the help I can get!!!!
